Home Made Deodorant (that lasts!)

Well, last week we tested our deodorant. The reports are in and the results have been compiled. The determination is made that this is a keeper!

So here are the results by tester:

I used the Thieves' Oil blend. I found that it worked wonderfully all day (and night!) I noticed that it was a bit wet immediately after I applied it, but the oil quickly absorbed and I was comfortable all day, even when I was hot and sweaty (which is hard to be in the winter, but I did!)

DH used the Thieves' Oil blend also. He also felt the wetness at first, but after that initial application, he was pleased.

Chrissy is an African/American friend of ours who has never found a natural deodorant that lasts all day for her. She was very excited about the results. She added some lemon and orange essential oil to hers and didn't have to reapply at all during the day.

Finally, Shelly used the Thieves' Oil blend. She is 18 and has the usual teenage hormones and odor issues that come along with her age and activities. She usually carries a stick deodorant with her everywhere she goes to apply multiple times a day! Well, one application in the morning and that was it! Yay! (for all our noses' sake!) She has benefited the most from this experiment!

Some additional thoughts we had during the week:

  • The Thieves' Oil will help with bacterial growth and keeping the 'smell' under control.
  • Citrus Oils have the same effect and may be more acceptable for mixing with a person's body pheromones.
  • For Shelly, we will try melting the mix and pouring it in an old deodorant container so it will be easier for her to apply with one hand. I'll post the results of that when we do it.
Please tell us your experiences with different oils and this recipe!
